Transfer News: Chelsea tell 24-year-old player to find a new club

Chelsea have told Malang Sarr he can leave club this summer window

As per Athletic (Subscription Required), Chelsea have informed Malang Sarr he can leave the club before the summer window completely closes for leagues around Europe and beyond. The centre-back is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, and the Blues are hoping to gain some profit from his exit.

The 24-year-old was on loan to AS Monaco last season, who had the option to sign the player on a long-term deal but opted to send him back to Chelsea.

It is hard to imagine him getting any playing time this season under the Argentine manager, as the Blues are already beefed up with the likes of Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, and Trevoh Chalobah at the back.

On top of that, he is just 24 and can opt to try his career somewhere else, given that the defender has attracted interest from Turkey as well as Saudi Arabia.

He will have the opportunity to restart his career at either a Saudi club or Fenerbahce, but whether he chooses to play in Europe or the Middle East is entirely dependent on him.

It will be a logical decision to test himself somewhere else. After joining the West Londoners in 2020, the centre-back has featured in only 21 games, which is enough to clarify that he should make a better career decision.

There is no doubt that he has the talent to get better, but his limited playing time at Chelsea makes it clear that he is throwing away his playing career here. A loan move wouldn’t be a bad idea and he was pretty decent when he was allowed to join FC Porto temporarily immediately after signing for us.

But there comes a time when teams realise if the player is quality or not and he can really fulfil his ceiling. If the Blues don’t see that in Sarr, which they haven’t until now, then it is best to cut our losses and let him leave.

As a result of the club signing other players, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek made the smart decision to leave and are now flourishing with another team. At AC Milan, Pulisic has already received the Player of the Month honour. Sarr should follow this example and try his career at a team where he feels he can earn enough playing time.
