Injury boost for Chelsea as midfield sensation returns to partial training

Chelsea handed welcome fitness break as Carney Chukwuemeka starts partial training

According to Football.London, Carney Chukwuemeka has resumed partial training after picking up a knee injury in a 3-1 defeat to West Ham United, and will soon join group training in what is good news for Chelsea.

The midfielder was expected to be out for six weeks but has returned sooner than we expected, and Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he will soon train with the entire squad. The youngster was impressive before his injury and will hope to continue from where he left off.

The 19-year-old joined from Aston Villa for £20 million last summer but was barely used under four different managers. Under Pochettino, the midfielder started each of the two games against a 1-1 draw with Liverpool and then the defeat to the Hammers.

The youngster opened his Chelsea account against the Hammers but suffered an unfortunate injury. His absence has been felt with the Blues winning only one Premier League game in the last six matches.

However, the Argentine manager’s pressure is alleviated by the 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion as the Blues attempt to regain their composure and the fans will expect this to be a turning point for the club.

Given how crucial Chukwuemeka has been to Pochettino, the 19-year-old’s impending fitness will be an exciting development for the former Southampton manager. Hopefully, we do not rush him back before he reaches full fitness.

Chukwuemeka has displayed remarkable maturity in the games despite his young age, and if it weren’t for the injury, he would have improved further with each match. It was unfortunate for him that an injury slowed down his progress, and now he will have to start over from the beginning to find his groove.

His ability to control the ball in constrained spaces and the assurance in his ability to overcome defenders in one-on-one situations have stood out. Hopefully, he will go on to achieve great things in Blue.
