Chelsea dream of signing world-class Serie A striker to solve goal-scoring woes

Chelsea want to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to solve their goal-scoring problems

Chelsea have made Napoli’s Victor Osimhen their top transfer target to solve their goalscoring woes.

According to Football.london, the Blues are said to be “dreaming” of signing the prolific Nigerian striker, who has emerged as one of Europe’s most coveted forwards after his blistering start to the season.

Osimhen has hit the net 3 times in 3 matches in the Italian Serie A this season. Last season he had secured 26 goals and 4 assists in 32 matches as Napoli won the league for the first time in 33 years.

Many of the world’s elite clubs have kept close tabs on the 24-year-old Osimhen over the summer transfer window. Now the Blues are ‘dreaming’ of signing the Napoli hitman. However, the reports indicate Chelsea will only stand a realistic chance of capturing Osimhen only if they qualify for the Champions League this season.

Chelsea will be having a hard time signing Osimhen

However, Chelsea will definitely have a hard time signing this young gun because of Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal. According to Sky Sports, the Saudi club has presented Napoli with a €140m offer for Osimhen while proposing wages of around £1m per week for the player.

That just shows how highly the Nigerian international is valued by Napoli, and for good reason. World-class strikers are hard to come by in the transfer market, especially ones who are still in their formative years.

Napoli currently lead Serie A and initially had no intention of selling their top attacker. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said that in the summer they are open to offers that are hard to refuse.

“We have a basic agreement on a two-year extension, but [we are] willing to consider an offer we could not refuse.”

Osimhen has emerged as Chelsea’s primary long-term transfer objective. Securing the 24-year-old will be a major win for the Blues since he can be an experienced frontman for Mauricio Pochettino, who is having to deal with too many young players right now.

He is young, talented and has a strong finishing ability. He may also be able to fix Chelsea’s weak attacking division. Nicolas Jackson has lacked the finishing touch, Armando Broja has been injured and is yet to prove himself as a top striker while Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke aren’t lifting their end of the weight in attack.

Our problems were evident in the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth today. We have just scored five times in the league this season and three of those goals came against Luton Town.
