“He needs time to adapt”- Chelsea boss explains what Nicolas Jackson can do to improve his scoring

Mauricio Pochettino feels Nicolas Jackson needs to be more calm with his finishing

Mauricio Pochettino explains that Nicolas Jackson should have been composed after missing a golden chance as Chelsea lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

The former Villarreal striker was provided with one of the best chances to become the hero of the game when Raheem Sterling squared the ball back to Jackson, who just had to put the ball in the net from six yards, but in a hurry, he botched his chance.

It was another disappointing night for the Blues, who were the better side and thought they had the game in their hands. But a mistake from Moises Caicedo saw them getting punished instantly.

Now Pochettino will have a few weeks to determine what he can do to make Chelsea more clinical in front of goal. Speaking about the striker after the game, (h/t Standard Evening) he said:

“I think in the future we will be talking differently. He needs time to adapt to the Premier League. He is doing a fantastic job, but scoring is not easy. He is a little bit rushed in his decisions. He needs to be a little bit more calm and relaxed, and for sure he is going to score goals.”

Jackson has given us the reason that he has the characteristics to become a top striker, and in the last few games, we have clearly seen it. The Premier League has just started. We need to have faith in the striker and manager because giving up on them doesn’t make sense as he surely can lead our attacking line but keeping expectations from him shouldn’t be the case.

Given that Pochettino is there to mentor Jackson and the other assistant managers, he will undoubtedly learn from his mistakes. We should be tolerant of him because he has the potential and once he hits his stride, scoring goals will become second nature for him in every game.
