Report: Chelsea reject claims of being in talks with PSG superstar

Chelsea have distanced themselves from rumours of holding talks with Neymar’s agent

Chelsea have distanced themselves from rumours claiming Neymar’s representatives have started talks with the Blues over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

According to French outlet RMC Sport (h/t Express), the Brazilian has been linked with a move to West London after telling Paris Saint-Germain he has no intention to continue there.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reported that Chelsea have rejected any claims that they will hold talks with former Santos forward agents. His link to Chelsea is due to his good relationship with former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, who managed the Brazilian during his time at the Ligue 1 club.

It is also understood the 31-year-old’s possible destination remains a move to his former club Barcelona, but the Spanish side is prioritising the signing of Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

The Times claims the Ligue 1 side is open to selling their record signing for between £60 million and £70 million. Neymar also has options to join a Saudi club, which has seen many top European players plying their trade there.

Earlier this year, the player was the subject of fan rage when many PSG supporters gathered around his house and demanded his exit from the club. So far, PSG have seen Lionel Messi depart while Kylian Mbappe’s future remains uncertain. Neymar’s exit on top of it would herald a new era at the French club.

Every team in football would like to sign a talented player like Neymar, which is why he still remains the most expensive transfer in football history. However, his inconsistency and repeated injuries have rendered him a liability because, no matter where he plays, there will always be the danger of having him sidelined.

And all the while, the former Santos superstar will pocket huge wages. He is an immaculate dribbler who is arguably one of the best wingers we have seen in a long time. But that attracts some nasty challenges from defenders, making him even more prone to injury.

We already have players like Mykhaylo Mudryk, Angelo Gabriel, and Noni Madueke who may not be near Neymar’s ability right now but they are worth investing time in. It’s best if we steer clear of Neymar, considering PSG will also demand a transfer fee on top of his wages.
