Chelsea are in talks to sign PSG superstar as summer exit beckons

Chelsea are discussing a potential move to sign PSG superstar Neymar Jr. this summer

According to French outlet Get French Football News, Chelsea are in talks to potentially make a move for Brazil superstar Neymar Jr. with Paris-Saint Germain willing to sell the player.

This has come following a report from fellow French outlet L’Equipe that Neymar Jr. has informed PSG about his intentions to leave the club in this transfer window.

It is also revealed that although the 31-year-old wants to return to Barcelona, his salary would be an issue for the Spanish giants. Hence, it is unlikely that a move to Spain is possible for him as of now.

While a Brazilian club have shared an interest in signing him, he would prefer playing in a league that is competitive and strong. With all due respect, that rules him out of returning to his homeland.

Chelsea are in talks with Neymar’s team to discuss a possible move. They have the financial means to bear the salary demands of the player and more.

But, do the Blues need to overpay to sign a player for a position where they are already stacked? It would not make much sense. However, we have seen crazier transfer moves made by the club under the current ownership in the last 12 months.

There is no doubt that Neymar is a sensational player. But, he likes to operate either on the left wing or as a support striker. Chelsea have players like Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku for those positions.

Moreover, we are well aware of the antics Neymar can come up with if things do not go his way. The last thing Mauricio Pochettino would want is disruption in the squad due to ill-discipline.

So, it would be better for Chelsea to stay away from this deal as much as possible.
