Chelsea agree transfer deal to sign Manchester City starlet

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Cole Palmer

As per ESPN, Chelsea have agreed to sign Manchester City star Cole Palmer in a deal worth £45 million. The Blues wrapped up the deal swiftly after they made a formal approach to the Premier League champions.

The 21-year-old has been forecasted to undergo his medical on Thursday and complete his transfer on Friday night before the deadline day of the summer transfer window. Despite receiving less game time at The Etihad , Palmer remained a standout player in the games. He scored in the City Community Shield game against Arsenal and later against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

The youngster’s contract with the city is until 2026. However, it remains to be seen if City will sanction an exit despite Chelsea reaching an agreement with the reigning Premier League winners.

The Blues have shown interest in a number of players, such as Arsenal’s Emile Smith-Rowe and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, though Tottenham Hotspur have shown concrete interest in signing the Nottingham Forest striker.

Chelsea also showed interest in Ansu Fati but seems to have lost the race to sign the Barcelona youngster, and Brighton & Hove Albion are close to signing the 20-year-old.

Meanwhile, Palmer joining Chelsea will be wise for the youngster, as he will get plenty of game time and might be a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino. He holds Premier League experience and is a clinical finisher, which Chelsea needs the most, and under Pochettino, he will only get better.

The U21 England international shouldn’t stay at Manchester United because Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are preferred by Pep Guardiola over Palmer. We think the young player, who appears poised to break out, can return with 10 or more goals in a season if given consistent playing minutes.
