“Here we go”- Romano confirms 20-year-old is set to leave Chelsea on loan

Fabrizio Romano reports Cesare Casadei is set to join Leicester City

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City have finally completed the signing of Cesare Casadei from Chelsea on a season-long loan spell as they bid to return to the Premier League next season. The transfer expert has given his ‘here we go’ to the transfer, which has come to become a precursor to an official announcement of a transfer.

The transfer expert also reported that if the deal goes quickly, the Italian midfielder will undergo a medical this week. Alongside him, 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos could also make a loan move, but Chelsea have yet to make a decision on him.

Angelo Gabriel has completed his loan move to Strasbourg, and next could be the recent signing of Deivid Washington. Casadei, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for a fee of £15 million, was later loaned to Championship side Reading.

Casadei played with the senior team in pre-season where he made a decent impression, but the Blues feel another loan spell will be better for the Italian midfielder.

A good move

The 20-year-old enjoyed a sumptuous U21 World Cup, where he led Italy to the final of the competition and was named Player of the Tournament and the Golden Ball.

The midfielder is going to profit from a move to Leicester because the Foxes are deemed frontrunners to secure promotion to the Premier League next season, and his arrival will add depth to their team. Additionally, they have Italian manager Rnzo Marasca, who can expect to strike good chemistry with his compatriot.

Although Casadei has an enormous ceiling, the Blues currently require experienced midfielders who can instantly upgrade our starting XI. The upcoming campaign might have been his maiden season, and he could have struggled to adjust himself at a time when Mauricio Pochettino’s team are under severe pressure to deliver results after missing out on the top four (or top 10) last season.

They have recently made progress in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo and made a bid for Romeo Lavia. Given they are 21 and 19 years old, respectively, one would want Casadei to progress at a rate where he can be considered a first-team starter.

But every player develops at their own rate. A loan to Leicester seems perfect because they also have a major void left by James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, which the former Inter Milan starlet can fill. All that is remaining is the official announcement from the clubs.
