Report: Inter players don’t want Chelsea star in the dressing room

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku’s former Inter Milan teammates aren’t open to his return

According to Italian La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku’s former Inter Milan teammates are against the idea of him coming back to the club after the striker started negotiations with Juventus.

The Belgian striker had been pushing for a move to Inter after his loan stint there expired and he returned to Chelsea as the 30-year-old has no intention of staying at Chelsea and wanted to return to Italy, but this time with a different team.

Juventus are now leading the race to sign Lukaku, who is in talks with the club. Inter, meanwhile, tabled an offer of £ 30 million plus add-ons.

But Juventus will only be able to sign Big Rom if they sell Dusan Vlahovic while Inter pulled out of the race when they heard the 30-year-old began talks with Juventus

Even his former teammates don’t want him to return to the club. As of now, Juventus and Saudi clubs remain the only options for the striker and a return to I Nerazzurri looks highly improbable.

The Blues are hoping to recoup £40 million from his exit after they spent £97.5 million two years ago on his acquisition. The striker has also not joined Chelsea’s training and was later omitted from the 29-man squad that travelled to the USA for pre-season games.

It seems like Inter Milan are certainly out of the race, as even his teammates don’t want him anymore, which is a serious harm he has done to the club’s trust. Chelsea are keen on selling him, so it’s unlikely he will remain here next season.

He can choose between Juventus and Saudi Arabia; if one of them offers Chelsea’s asking price then the West Londoners should be pleased to let him go. It’s unfortunate that he underperformed at Chelsea after the team had so much optimism in him given he joined the Blues after leading Inter to Scudetto in the 2020-21 season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also officially joined Olympique de Marseille so it is clear the club want to go in a different direction with their No. 9 prospects. Nicolas Jackson may not be enough though. A new signing is needed and hopefully, the fee we recoup from Lukaku is put towards it.
