Pochettino says he will talk to two youngsters about Chelsea future

Pochettino claims he will speak to Mykhaylo Mudryk and Levi Colwill when they join Chelsea for pre-season training

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that he is set to speak with Mykhaylo Mudryk and Levi Colwill once they join the club for pre-season training. Chelsea signed Mudryk for £88.5 million from Shakhtar Donetsk, but the player struggled to make an impression in his maiden season at the club.

Less game time also saw him participate for the Ukraine U21 team at the European Championship, where he had an amazing tournament and showed glimpses of his talent. To be fair, had he played regularly for us, there is every chance he could have still played for Ukraine’s youth team despite being a full international for them.

The 22-year-old will soon join the Blues’ training under new boss Pochettino, who claimed how he will help the youngster reach his potential, (h/t Metro) saying:

‘’I’m going to meet him before he comes to pre-season. I really like to see and know him, and then to design the best strategy to help him be at the level that Chelsea expects.’’

Meanwhile, Colwill, who enjoyed an excellent loan season at Brighton & Hove Albion, has returned to Chelsea and will hope to play a key role in helping the West Londoners reach their competitive level. Pochettino also addressed the centre-back situation and is looking forward to speaking with the defender, as he claimed:

‘’I need to hear what he has in his mind. What he expects. And then, of course, for him to listen to what I expect from him.’’

Both Mudryk and Colwill play a significant role for the team in the upcoming campaign, and Pochettino stated about Mudryk that he has a plan to help the 22-year-old find his footing at Chelsea. We already noticed just how talented the Ukrainian international is in his debut against Liverpool and in Georgia, and given Pochettino’s history of assisting young players, we will soon see a top player at Stamford Bridge.

Colwill also took home the U21 European Championship after England U21 defeated Spain 1-0 in the championship game. However, Pochettino must first persuade the defender that he will be a crucial member of the team because the youngster is already luring suitors. Manchester City and Liverpool are both showing interest in buying him.

These two players offer a lot of hope and one of them (of course, Mudryk) represents a lot of investment. Given Chelsea’s proclivity towards signing youth players, it made sense to get someone like Poch in. Now, it’s time for the Argentina tactician to work his magic.
