Tottenham Hotspur offer Harry Kane a lucrative new contract amidst Chelsea interest
Tottenham Hotspur have made a new contract offer to Chelsea target Harry Kane as they hope to keep their star striker at the club beyond next summer, when his contract expires. The English ace is one of the world’s best number nines today and will not be short of suitors.
As per the Guardian, (h/t Football.London) Tottenham have offered an enormous contract and improved salary that will see him earn more than his current £200,000-per-week wage. But the 29-year-old has shown little interest in penning a new deal and will take some convincing.
However, Daniel Levy is reluctant to sell the England International this summer. Unless an agreement can be found, the Tottenham honcho risks losing his star man for free this summer. Replacing him would prove difficult given the elite talent that the Spurs ace performs at.
Despite breaking numerous records at Spurs, the hitman is yet to win trophies at the club level. Kane is not getting any younger and we are no closer to ending our trophy drought. Surely we will need to match his ambitions to boost our chances of retaining his services.
Chelsea have been touted as a possible destination. Given Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival at the Blues, there is some optimism that he could reunite with his former protégé. It was under the Argentine that Kane developed into a world-class player and would surely thrive under the new Chelsea manager.
However, the Blues will have to rival the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain for his acquisition. The Bavarians had their opening bid rejected by Spurs and it remains to be seen if more offers come in.
Kane has already established his reputation as a reliable goal scorer at Tottenham. He is exactly what Chelsea need and could spearhead a new era at Stamford Bridge. An infallible goal scorer will certainly be a shot in the arm for a Blues roster trying to find their feet under new management.

Levy is a hard negotiator and is unlikely to favour a sale to local rivals. However, if Kane puts off his decision, it will only weaken Tottenham’s chances of retaining their star man. Whether we will put in a cheeky bid for the Englishman if his contract saga rambles on remains to be seen.
