“You are dead”- Mauricio Pochettino sounds out a clear warning to Chelsea stars

Mauricio Pochettino in no mood for excuses from Chelsea stars

Mauricio Pochettino has already sent a warning to the Chelsea players. He has made it clear that there will be no excuses and every player will have to work hard to make the club a competitive force again.

Pochettino was straightforward during his press conference and has urged the players to meet the demands during training. Chelsea set to start from scratch after finishing last season in 12th place in the Premier League and failing to qualify for Europe let alone the Champions League.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spent an exorbitant amount of money to recruit top young, talented players across Europe. The time is now ripe for the club and it’s staff to repay his commitment to the cause.

The club has already begun training for next season and will fly to the USA to play pre-season matches before they start the 2023–24 season, with the first game of the season coming against Liverpool on August 13. Jurgen Klopp’s side are also going through a revamp and will give us a clear idea of what to expect with respect to our standing in the upcoming campaign.

The Argentine manager has already issued a warning to Chelsea players ahead of next season, (h/t Mirror) as he said during his press conference with the media:

“Now we need to be competitive on the training ground or we are not going to arrive on time. ‌I don’t want to make excuses to the players by saying, First of all, we need time to rebuild; we need time to work; we need, we need, we need.”

Pochettino has a long season ahead of him, and he has the backing of the owners to make the team competitive again. We have hired a top manager who can turn the team into a challenges provided they are willing to do as he says.

We don’t need a manager who has no authority over the players and who is overshadowed by them in the dressing room. Pochettino is certainly setting the tone and is keen to have the final word. Surely, that is how it should be.

Those players who endured a poor season last term will have to bounce back in the upcoming campaign and redeem themselves. A club like Chelsea cna be unforgiving for non-performers and it is imperative that no player takes his spot for granted.
