Journo says Chelsea midfielder target is ‘in a rush to leave’ his PL club

Ben Jacobs reveals Chelsea are growing impatient with their pursuit of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo

Transfer guru Ben Jacobs has confirmed Chelsea are growing impatient with Brighton & Hove Albion’s hefty demands for Moises Caicedo after they rejected the Blues’ £80 million offer.

This was Chelsea’s third bid, but the West Londoners remain in negotiations with Brighton, and it is understood Caicedo is set to ask the club to lower his asking price.

The Blues are hoping to complete his signing before the start of the new season, but Brighton seems to be delaying their pursuit, and the Blues believe the Ecuadorian midfielder should be sold for £80 million.

Brighton have valued the 21-year-old at £100 million, and now are not budging from that, it remains to be seen if the Blues will come to the fore with a fifth offer.

However, Jacobs confirms this has frustrated Chelsea, and they are now running out of patience. Speaking to GiveMeSport, the transfer journalist said:

“Chelsea are sticking to their guns. They believe that Caicedo should be sold for £80 million or less, and at the moment, their offers have been less than £80 million. So it’s a bit of a game at the moment because obviously, Brighton are in no rush to sell Caicedo, but the player is in a rush to leave, and Chelsea have got a little bit impatient.”

Brighton are really trying our patience by rejecting four offers, which is ridiculous. Even Caicedo is impatient and wants the change and hopefully, that is one aspect that plays in our favour.

Considering that we have yet to sign a defensive midfielder and that we have just a few weeks till we play our first game of the 2023–24 season, we don’t have enough time. One cannot stress on how important every single competitive game is at this level.

Let’s hope Chelsea make a convincing fifth offer that persuades the Seagulls to sell the 21-year-old. We certainly have money to sign Rennes’ French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, so if push comes to shove, fans will expect that the west London giants throw the cash, tie down Caicedo to an extremely long deal, and get done with this saga once and for all.

Our season begins August 13 with a league game against Liverpool. Hopefully, the former Independiente del Valle player is wearing our colours by then.
