Real Madrid considering Chelsea star Kai Havertz as a replacement for Karim Benzema

There have been internal discussions at Real Madrid about Chelsea star Kai Havertz, who could potentially replace Karim Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Journalist José Félix Dáz of Spain claims that (h/t Express) Havertz has been touted as a potential replacement for the Frenchman at Real Madrid. It comes as a surprise given that the German hasn’t really set the pulse racing at Stamford Bridge.

Benzema has been offered a hefty wage by a Saudi team of around £345 million and is considering leaving Real Madrid this season. It will bring to an end, a glorified career in white.

As the offer has the 35-year-old highly inclined, and he could depart the club once the summer transfer window opens. Furthermore, the Spanish heavyweights believe that Havertz might eventually succeed the 2021–22 Ballon d’Or winner.

The former Bayern Leverkusen star, who spent the majority of the current season playing as Chelsea’s striker and scored just seven goals in 35 Premier League games, endured another difficult year.

However, given that the Blues are now searching for a natural striker, the 23-year-old might be moved to his preferred position. Mauricio Pochettino, who will take over at Chelsea has already decided on Joao Felix’s future at the club, and cannot afford to also let Havertz leave.

We already have our creative players leaving the club, with Mason Mount already on the verge of leaving, and Felix will also leave. We will need a player who can operate behind the striker.

However, the arrival of Christopher Nkunku is acceptable, but he will not always be available, so the club should think about it if Real Madrid arrives with an offer.

More Chelsea News:

Havertz, who is only 23 years old and spent the current season functioning as a striker. He is certainly not a natural goalscorer and more of a forward who likes to support the striker from behind. Additionally, Pochettino’s arrival may serve as a springboard for the German player to redevelop his mojo. Nevertheless, we can think about selling him if the Spanish club does make an enticing offer.
