Inter Milan earmark Chelsea star as a priority summer adition

Inter Milan identify Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly as ‘priority target’

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been identified as a ‘priority target’ by Inter Milan ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Blues are set to hold talks with the Serie A giants in the coming days. That is when the Nerazzurri will enquire about the Senegal international.

However, the main topic of the discussion will be the future of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian joined the Italian outfit on loan for the 2022/23 season from the Stamford Bridge side.

Trevoh Chalobah’s name is also expected to come up in the conversations. As for the West London club, they will ask about the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side’s shot-stopper Andre Onana.

Chelsea signed Koulibaly last summer from Napoli. The 31-year-old had built a pedigree of being one of the best centre-backs in Serie A over the years.

Unfortunately, the defender has struggled to showcase his talent on a regular basis at the Stamford Bridge side. The Senegalese made a few errors at the back last season and did not look comfortable.

Thiago Silva was once again the only centre-back who did not let us down in the previous campaign. The Brazilian is going strong even at such a ripe age. But the 38-year-old has lacked a consistent partner at the West London club.

Wesley Fofana has had multiple fitness issues since making his way to Chelsea from Leicester City last summer. Benoit Badiashile got off to a good start after arriving in January but struggled towards the end of the season.

We have a lot of talent in our backline. However, our centre-backs did not show their best selves in the previous campaign. Koulibaly proved himself at Napoli. Will the Senegalese opt to return to Italy this summer with Inter interested? Only time will tell.
