Chelsea ready to part with versatile Welsh star for £12m

Ethan Ampanu valued at £12 million by Chelsea amidst Premier League interest

Chelsea will demand £12 million to part ways with Ethan Ampadu in the ongoing transfer window amidst interest from teams in the Premier League, according to the Evening Standard.

The Blues have already received a few offers for the Wales international after putting him up for sale. As things stand, the 22-year-old is open to ending his stint at the Stamford Bridge side this summer.

Apart from being on the radar of clubs in the English top flight, sides in Spain are also eyeing the defender. Along with the aforementioned price tag, the West London club will also look to include a sell-on fee in any potential deal.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Ampadu was on loan at Spezia in Italy. He made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Aquile, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The Serie A outfit wanted to make the Welsh national’s move permanent. Unfortunately, their relegation has hampered their approach for the defender.

Throughout his career, the 22-year-old has mostly played as a centre-back. However, he now prefers to build a career as a midfielder. It remains to be seen whether the former Exeter City star will be given that opportunity at his next club.

Ampadu has not featured a lot for Chelsea over the years. For the past few seasons, the youngster has been out on loan at different teams. He has played for the likes of RB Leipzig, Sheffield United and Venezia.

At the back, the Stamford Bridge side have an abundance of talent with the likes of Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva. However, we could evidently do with a bit more depth in the middle of the park.
