AC Milan and Chelsea agree on €20m package for 27-year-old star

AC Milan look set to complete the signing of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a permanent deal

According to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, AC Milan have agreed on a fee to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a permanent deal this summer.

Loftus-Cheek is part of the mass exodus that is happening at Stamford Bridge since the start of the transfer window with many players such as N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy already moving to different clubs.

The trend looks set to continue as Chelsea needs to raise funds through player sales to cover for the exorbitant spending done last season.

Loftus-Cheek is the latest name on the books, with his move to AC Milan in the final stages, who are keen to replace the Englishman for the departing Sandro Tonali. Jacobs says the total package is around €20million including add-ons.

The 27-year-old Englishman is expected to pen a four-year deal at San Siro. It is tough seeing a player making his way up from the Academy to leave for a different club as the perfect story would have been doing extremely well in a Chelsea shirt.

While he has shown glimpses of his huge talent, there has never been any permanency over Loftus-Cheek continuously occupying the starting roles in many games for the club.

It is rather befitting to see as he made his debut for the club ten years back and by now should have been an established starter for the team.

Therefore, the deal on paper makes sense for all parties involved as it allows Chelsea to recoup some fee while allowing the player to reignite his career in a different league where he would have a familiar face in Fikoyo Tomori to help him acclimatise to his new surroundings.
