Pochettino identifies four Chelsea players he wants to build his squad around

Mauricio Pochettino keen to build his Chelsea squad around Colwill, Mount, Gallagher and James

According to The Standard, Levi Colwill, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, and Reece James are the players Mauricio Pochettino wants to centre his Chelsea team around.

After reaching an agreement with the club, the Argentine manager is expected to be named Chelsea’s manager for the upcoming season. He has a talented yet unsettled roster that will need some surgery.

He believes he has already identified the four crucial players that will enable him to contend for the championships in the upcoming season. Pochettino wants to put more emphasis on homegrown talents.

Pochettino will have input on who he wants at the club for the upcoming season, and the club will also need to trim down their bloated team.

Levi Colwill is anticipated to play a big role at Chelsea once his Brighton Hove & Albion loan is over. James is already a first team regular while Mount and Gallagher have serious question marks about their futures.

The situation may alter under the Argentine manager, whose hiring might persuade Mount to extend his contract and give Gallagher another chance. The team has also been advised by Pochettino to recruit a striker and a competent custodian.

Pochettino wants a younger team that can play in his system because he demands a pressing game that is fierce. He conducts resilient training sessions and appears keen to harness the quartet’s energy.

Colwill has developed into a brilliant centre-back at Brighton and will undoubtedly be welcomed by Chelsea next season. Gallagher’s position and Mount’s situation are both questionable while James needs to work on his fitness.
