Chelsea receive a setback as Inter Milan only want cash to sell Andre Onana

As per Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Football.London), Chelsea receive a setback in their bid to sign Andre Onana as Inter Milan are only interested in a deal that involves them getting the cash.

The report states that the Blues had offered a swap deal to sign Onana from the Nerazzurri. The player offered in the deal was Kepa Arrizabalaga.

But, the Serie A club want Chelsea to pay the money to sign the 27-year-old as they want to balance their books. They could demand as much as €70m.

Chelsea are in the market for a goalkeeper because Edouard Mendy is most likely to leave following the lack of game time this season, and him rejecting a new contract due to the lack of respect shown by the club.

Kepa has played a lot of games but has shown zero sign of improvement since the time he was last dropped in favour of Mendy in 2020.

Onana, a former Ajax goalkeeper, is very good at shot-stopping, passing out from the back, and commanding his area. The 27-year-old has the tools to become an excellent addition to the Chelsea squad.

He will be in the limelight on 10th June when Inter face Manchester City in the Champions League Final. Onana’s performance in that game might be key in deciding whether the Italian side can upset Pep Guardiola’s team.

Every good team at the highest level must have a good goalkeeper if they dream of challenging for the biggest trophies. Although this season has been horrific, Chelsea must get back to winning silverware very soon.
