Chelsea and Aston Villa looking to-resign 25-year-old forward valued at £40m

Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle United among clubs after AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham

Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are the six Premier League clubs believed to be in the race to sign Tammy Abraham from AS Roma.

This is according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Roma will be listening to offers in the region of £40million. It is also mentioned that the 25-year-old could be willing to make a return to the Premier League.

He has had a mixed time in Italy, managing 36 goals and 12 assists in 102 games for Jose Mourinho’s team. But Chelsea fans would be well aware of the England international’s overall game. Chelsea also have a £67million buy-back clause inserted into his contract but if Roma want less, perhaps the Blues won’t have to pay that much.

He is a smart finisher who can dribble well and is good aerially as well. All in all, he has all the raw minerals needed to be an elite striker.

What to do if you’re Chelsea?

It was strange that we allowed him to leave the club in 2021 and relied on Timo Werner along with summer arrival Romelu Lukaku. Both players are back playing for their previous clubs, with the Belgium international expected to return to SW6 from his loan spell at the end of the season.

He ended the 2020-21 season with 12 goals and six assists in 32 games for us and was treated really poorly by Thomas Tuchel as the German kept dropping him for important games towards the end of the season.

The German tactician is now gone and Chelsea are in desperate need of a striker. Lukaku just hasn’t cut it here and his future in west London is up in the air.

The same goes for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer. Armando Broja is inexperienced while Kai Havertz isn’t a natural No. 9. If Chelsea can provide regular playing time to Abraham, then we should be confident about our chances of signing him.

We would, however, have to watch out for Aston Villa, who can not only offer him regular first-team minutes but also the chance to reconnect with the fans that worshipped him in the 2018-19 Championship season where he scored 26 goals in 40 games across competitions.
