Chelsea ready to make an ambitious move for Serie A winning superstar

Chelsea are interested in a summer deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen

According to the Guardian, Chelsea are preparing to make an ambitious move for Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Nigerian has been a longtime target for Chelsea. He is coming off a remarkable season at Napoli, where he helped the team win its first Scudetto since the Diego Maradona era.

Chelsea are reportedly being urged by Mauricio Pochettino to sign the striker for the next campaign. The Argentine manager will sign a three-year contract with the Blues and will take over as Chelsea’s manager ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Other European teams are also keen on the player who has scored 23 goals in 29 league appearances this season. But the Serie A heavyweights have insisted on a big fee for their top scorer and will not yield.

Chelsea will have to let go of a number of underperforming players before signing him, though, as they won’t be participating in the Champions League next year. With Romelu Lukaku expected to return from his season long loan at Inter Milan, the club has decisions to make.

Chelsea’s primary objective is a striker because they have been appalling in front of goal and will need to buy a solid number 9 for next season.

The fact that Osimhen has had a fantastic season with Napoli and is the kind of striker the Blues need makes it clear that the Blues are willing to make the financial commitment necessary to sign him for the upcoming season.

Ruthless in front of the goal and having great positional awareness, Osimhen is the ideal modern day striker. He is young and really talented, and under Pochettino, he will be able to focus on other things as well.

Therefore, if we truly want to sign him, we should pursue him, but we also need to be mindful of our Financial Fair Play guidelines since they will constrain our spending during the summer transfer window.
