According to Talksport (h/t Express), Graham Potter has rejected a chance to take over the Leicester City job hours after getting the sack at Chelsea.
On Sunday night, a day after a bad loss to Aston Villa at home, Potter was sacked by Chelsea and replaced by Bruno Saltor on an interim basis.
Hours before that event, Leicester City parted ways with Rodgers after a defeat and a squirmy performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday. That result pushed the Foxes into 19th place in the table.
After a tumultuous Sunday, it was understandable why Leicester wanted to know what Potter’s plans are. Despite his horrendous reign at Stamford Bridge, he is still a good manager who had a great CV at Brighton. So, a club like Leicester may suit him.
But, the report has confirmed that the 47-year-old is set to take a break from coaching and subsequently turned down an approach from the Foxes.
Whatever one can think of Potter, six bad months do not eradicate all of the good work he has done in the past. The job at Chelsea was never easy, especially after seeing crazy transfer activities being done in the last two transfer windows.
The Blues do have a swelled up squad with good players not getting a chance of playing regularly. Daily Mail reported a few days ago that as many as 11 players could be offloaded in the summer.
That just shows that whoever takes over this job won’t have it easy dealing with a count of players that are never seen anywhere. For now, we wish Potter all the best wherever he goes next. Things did not work out for him here and it never felt like the right fit as well from day one.
