Joao Felix has started to seem like one of Chelsea’s own already. He is, however, only here at Stamford Bridge on a six-month loan deal from Atletico Madrid.
As of now, he is scheduled to return to Los Colchoneros at the end of the season. According to Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb, Chelsea could consider offering Romelu Lukaku in a part-exchange deal for Felix.
The Belgium international is said to be valued at around 40million Euros while the Portuguese forward’s valuation is exactly double that amount. The Blues, in such a situation, would also need to pay some cash.
Inter Milan are not believed to be eager to keep Lukaku beyond the summer after his loan spell from Chelsea expires. The Blues will have to make a decision on what to do with the 29-year-old.
We can’t keep loaning him out every season before his valuation and contract keeps winding down as it did with Tiemoue Bakayoko. It’s imperative we either use him for ourselves or cut our losses after spending 97.5million Pounds on him in the summer of 2021.
Felix, 23, is younger than Lukaku and is also a different type of centre-forward. He can play anywhere across the frontline and behind the No. 9.
The Atletico Madrid loanee is nimble with the ball at his feet, is an adept passer of the ball, and can run at the opposition with his acceleration and close control. Lukaku is more of a target man.
It remains to be seen what view Chelsea’s potential new head coach will hold regarding the two forwards. It could, of course, play a role in their futures. For now, if Lukaku can be used in bolstering our attack by way of signing Felix, then it is a move not a lot of Chelsea fans will be against.
