Chelsea ready to part ways with Thomas Tuchel favourite as Bayern Munich circle

Chelsea agree to send Anthony Barry to Bayern Munich to work with Thomas Tuchel

According to Evening Standard, Bayern Munich are close to appointing Chelsea coach Anthony Barry as their coach to work alongside Thomas Tuchel.

Barry, who has done well at Stamford Bridge since arriving at the club in August 2020, was wanted by Tuchel days after he was appointed the Bayern manager.

Barry also works as an assistant manager to Roberto Martinez for the Portuguese national team. He has been a set-piece specialist at Chelsea.

The 36-year-old’s move to Bavaria was stopped by the Blues as there was a possibility that Bayern would meet them in the Champions League semi-final, which would have resulted in the coach interchanging tactical thoughts.

As it turned out, both clubs are out of that competition now after meekly surrendering to Manchester City and Real Madrid despite having respective second legs at home.

Barry has done well for Chelsea and we wish him all the best for his next employment at the club level. We anyway are expecting massive changes at Stamford Bridge in the managerial hot seat.

After sacking Graham Potter more than two weeks ago, the club appointed Frank Lampard on an interim basis till the end of this season.

While Lampard is not pulling any trees, Chelsea are in talks with several managers before finalising one option for the permanent manager role. They have had talks with Luis Enrique, but Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race for the Spaniard. He was disappointed with the talks too.

Julian Nagelsmann seems to be the favourite to take over this job, while recent reports at Sky Sports has revealed that the club has held initial talks with Mauricio Pochettino as well.
