According to Football Transfers via cfbayern (h/t Football.London), Barcelona have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for talented Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa.
The former Dinamo Zagreb man joined Stuttgart in 2018 and has since then gone on to establish himself as one of the best left-backs in the Bundesliga. An attacking left-back, Sosa is adept at bombing forward and can even play as a left-midfielder.
The 24-year-old Croatian has played 30 games for the Bundesliga club this season across all competitions and has scored two goals and provided nine assists. Such numbers are extraordinary for a defender and showcase his attacking nous.
Chelsea and Tottenham have been interested in signing the talented defender for quite some time now but it has now emerged that Spanish giants Barcelona have also joined the race for the Croatian sensation.
Signing Borna Sosa would be a great option for the Blues but he would have to be content with a backup role at the club.
Ben Chilwell is undoubtedly Chelsea’s first-choice left-back and will continue to do so next season unless something drastic happens. The Englishman has been down with a long-term injury this season and will be hoping to come back stronger next season.
Sosa is 24, and he comes at an age where he is neither too young nor too old. He could be the perfect player for Thomas Tuchel with his abilities and could turn out to be an important signing for Chelsea.
With Barcelona interested in the player, the race for Borna Sosa will not be easy for Chelsea. The Spanish club has a pulling power like no other club and the Stuttgart defender might be swayed towards playing at the Camp Nou next season.
It remains to be seen what happens with the future of Borna Sosa. Chelsea are looking to sign the player, but it will definitely not be easy.
