Transfer News: Romelu Lukaku linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur

According to Absolute Chelsea (@CorSport via @Sport_Witness) (h/t Football.London), Chelsea superstar Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a shock move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Inter Milan striker joined Chelsea back in the summer in what was a highly anticipated move for the player. However, things have not panned out as expected with the Belgian striker failing to replicate the kind of form he showed at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The 29-year-old striker has played 44 times for Thomas Tuchel’s team this season, scoring 15 goals and two assists across all competitions. Whilst the numbers don’t seem bad on paper, the player has failed to help Chelsea in key moments this season.

Things have not worked out as expected for the talented striker and he has been linked with a move away from the club. Whilst a move to former club Inter has been on the cards for quite some time now, he is now being linked with a reunion with former manager Antonio Conte.

A scary reunion?

To say that Antonio Conte knows to get the best out of Romelu Lukaku is an understatement. The Italian manager made the Belgian a beast in the Serie A during their time at Inter.

Spurs already have a world-class striker in Harry Kane and adding Romelu Lukaku to the mix will enable Tottenham to form one of the scariest strike partnerships in football. The Italian manager is famous for his 3-5-2 formation and could play both of these strikers up top.

Do Romelu Lukaku have a future at Chelsea?

Romelu Lukaku has failed to convince during his time at Stamford Bridge this season but injuries and Covid have not helped his cause. Chelsea could choose to be patient with the Belgian as we all know that at his best, Lukaku is a world-class striker.

The 29-year-old still has time to resurrect his Blues career. He has a decision to make if he wants to stay on at the club or move in search of pastures new but if he chooses to remain here, then Chelsea must be willing to give their star striker another chance.

It remains to be seen as to what happens with Lukaku’s future. A move to Tottenham sounds very scary and it is best if he chooses to stick it out and try to succeed at Chelsea.

Our fans can bear the Belgian succeeding elsewhere but surely not while playing for our arch-rivals.
