Premier League executive tips Marina Granovskaia to leave Chelsea following the club’s sale

Speaking to The Athletic (Subscription Required), A Premier League executive has expressed his belief that Marina Granovskaia will leave Chelsea following the club’s sale in the future. Uncertainty has surrounded her future at Stamford Bridge after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government.

The Blues are currently going through the process of a sale, with four bids being on the table at this particular moment. Granovskaia’s future prospects have been a talking point several times as she is believed to have close ties with Abramovich. Hence, there are concerns that she would leave the club after a sale is finalised.

It seems that the fears may be a real possibility as one of the PL executives thinks that she has his mind set on departing the West London side after a sale. The unknown official even goes on to convey that the new prospective owners may not be able to make her stay because of her intentions.

Marina Granovskaia could leave Chelsea after a sale takes place.

“There are rumours within the industry that Marina might stay, but I can’t see that. I’m not sure how she can. If you were buying Chelsea right now, I don’t think you could manufacture it in a way where she stayed. But she may not want to stay anyway. You would think she would want to go when a sale goes through, so there is a clean break.”

A Massive blow awaiting us?

It was Abramovich who brought Granovskaia to the club, so the possibility that she could leave after the ownership rights leaves from the Russian oligarch’s hands is something that needs to be considered. That is especially the case when she is really close to the club owner and may not want to stay, just like the PL official mentioned.

Granovskaia was awarded the award for the best Club Director in European Football last year in December at the annual Golden Boy awards put on by Italy’s Tuttosport newspaper. Her contributions to the club cannot easily be replicated, so losing her could be detrimental to our future.

After all, one of the Premier League’s leading executives has declared her to be the “silent assassin” for the way he does her job. Perhaps, that is what makes her so effective in undertaking her tasks, earning her a name for herself across world football.

The new potential owners must do their best to convince Granovskaia to stay with them as the impact her exit could make might be too big under the current circumstances. If a departure is likely to happen, they should at least make her stay on a short term basis until they get the hang of things. It remains to be seen if the club director will stay with us or not once the sale eventually gets facilitated.
