Chelsea advisor Petr Cech backs Frank Lampard for a Premier League return amidst Norwich job confirmation

Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Football.London), Chelsea technical and performance advisor Petr Cech has said that Frank Lampard will make a return to the Premier League soon. Lampard was the former manager of the Blues before he was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Lampard was linked with a move to Rangers after Steven Gerrard left to join Aston Villa as their new manager. However, it is said that Norwich City have hijacked the plans and will appoint him as their new coach.

Cech has backed his former teammate to make a return to the top flight eventually. He believes that the former Chelsea midfielder would join a club with a solid project since he has a passion for coaching. He also added that he is not surprised about the interest from different clubs since it was a matter of time before it happened.

“He has all the qualities to be a Premier League manager. I’m not surprised his name is coming up now and it will only be a matter of time before he returns to the Premier League.”

According to talkSPORT (h/t Football.London), the 43-year-old is set to become the new coach of Norwich. It seems that the former goalkeeper’s words rang true after all and could be officially announced shortly.

Simon Phillips on Twitter (h/t Football.London) has also confirmed the news about the Canaries reaching an agreement with the Chelsea legend. He also added that only the backroom staff needs to be sorted, and once that is done, official confirmation will be released.

Since the move to Carrow Road is already confirmed, the former teammates will be on the opposite sides when they meet in the league. But, Lampard will have a tough task at hand since he would have to help the Yellows survive the relegation.

It would be interesting to see how the former England international would deal with such circumstances.
