According to transfer news from CaughtOffside, Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori could be involved in a tug of war between Premier League clubs and AC Milan. Chelsea are said to be reconsidering a permanent sale to Milan in a bid to spark a bidding war.
A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team last season after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of the last season.
Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game-time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where has thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old has quickly gone about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.
It had earlier been reported that Milan have the option to sign him on a permanent deal for €28m. Now, Chelsea are having second thoughts about letting Milan sign him. Some unnamed Premier League clubs have shown interest in the defender. That has influenced Chelsea to keep the door open for a bidding war.
It looks very likely that Tomori has no future at Chelsea if he returns from Milan. With his impressive showings for the Italian giants, he will not be short of teams who want to sign him. It will be up to Chelsea to see where they get the most profit by selling.
