According to transfer news from Leicestershire Live, Chelsea are set to battle three Premier League side for Nuno Mendes. Both Manchester clubs and Leicester are also said to be after the highly-rated Sporting CP starlet.

Mendes’ performances have also earned him a spot in defending champions Portugal’s squad for this summer’s Euros. It represents an excellent chance for the teenager to take his game to a bigger audience.

It has been reported that a host of sides including Chelsea are looking at the 18-year-old. Leicester are looking to upgrade their left-back options. On the other hand, Man City are already planning a £60million deal for the defender.

Mendes is another bright talent to emerge out of Portugal. However, Chelsea already have a surplus of left-backs in the side in Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and Emerson. Unless they sell a few of them, it hardly makes sense to go after another prodigious player in the same position.
