Transfer News: Emerson Palmieri could join Napoli

According to transfer news from SportWitness, Chelsea fringe player Emerson Palmieri could leave for Napoli. The Italian side are keen on a €10m deal that would see Emerson reunite with Luciano Spalletti.

Emerson has struggled massively to get any sort of game time this season. He has played a staggeringly low number of minutes, with most of them coming in cup competitions. Ben Chilwell has pretty much been Chelsea’s first-choice left-back/wingback.

Napoli want Emerson

Chilwell and Marcos Alonso have pretty much shared the duties at left-back with Emerson being used in a handful of games through the season. His long spells on the bench resulted in his drop from the Italian national team for the Euros.

Now, it has been reported that his former manager Luciano Spalletti is keen on bringing the player to Napoli. The pair worked together during their time at AS Roma before Emerson left for Chelsea. Napoli are keen to improve their left side of the defence. Director of football Cristiano Guintoli is most keen on Emerson. It is believed that €10m could be enough to convince Chelsea to let him go.

Emerson has just one year left on his current deal. This transfer window represents the only chance for Chelsea to make any money off the deal. Clearly, he is not a part of the first-team plans and we should allow him to leave.
