Tuchel feels Chelsea should improve in attack after Atletico Madrid win

According to Metro, Thomas Tuchel believes his Chelsea side can still improve their attack after winning against Atletico Madrid. It was a professional display from Chelsea as they swept aside Atleti by two goals, winning the tie 3-0 on aggregate.

Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri in each half were enough to seal the deal as Atleti barely got close to the home side and rarely looked to trouble the scores. The visitors’ frustrations were visible as they hooked off Luis Suarez with more than half an hour to go.

While Chelsea secured the tie easily, their goals looked to be counter attacks more than patient buildup. Tuchel spoke out on this issue as he wants his side to be more clinical in the final third.

‘We need to improve in counter attacks, the first contact after we win the ball when we implement more forward thinking to exploit space,’ Tuchel told a post-match press conference.

We are a hard-working team and a hard working team is the best team you can have as a coach. We want to be more clinical and with precise decision making with counter attacks. We are still lacking the last pass.’

Both Ziyech and Emerson got their much-needed goals, with the former particularly running dry on goals since joining the club.

Another win means Thomas Tuchel is now 13 games unbeaten, winning 9 of them. This run is crucial at a time when the season is set to reach its crescendo and important games are still left to be played and trophies to be won.

With such a display in the Champions League, Chelsea can stake a claim to be outside challengers for the trophy.
