Roman Abramovich could replace Frank Lampard with Massimiliano Allegri

According to Quotidano Sportivo (h/t Football.london), Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich could replace Frank Lampard with Massimiliano Allegri.

Lampard enjoyed a promising but rather inconsistent debut season in charge of the Blues last season. A top-four finish and an FA Cup final appearance were the highlights of the campaign.

He had been backed to hilt in the summer with a number of high-profile players making their way to the Bridge. The Blues made the most of a slow market to bring in the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy.

Will Roman Abramovich replace Frank Lampard with Massimiliano Allegri

Despite the array of talents at his disposal, Lampard’s side have won just two of their first five Premier League games.

The new signings have all impressed in different capacities. However, it would appear that we are still finding our stride as a team.

It remains to be seen how long Abramovich would be willing to accept these results. He appears to be ready to pull the trigger if need be, caring nothing for sentiment.

Doing away with managers is not something new for the Russian oligarch.

Allegri is an astute tactician

A proven winner!

Allegri, to his credit, is an astute manager who has made a name for himself at both AC Milan and Juventus. He is a free agent, having left Juventus last summer.

He won 13 major honours at both Milan and Juventus from 2010-2019. Allegri also led Juventus to two Champions League final but they were unable to win either of them.

A no-nonsense manager, signing the 53-year-old would give Chelsea a proven winner capable of competing with the big guns. Whether we will indeed get him to replace Lampard remains to be seen.

Abramovich wants to win at all costs

A major source of frustration for Lampard has been Chelsea’s inability to keep clean sheets. With Mendy showing a semblance of stability, there is hope that Lampard can engineer a turnaround in our fortunes.

Chelsea face off against Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend. A win against the Red Devils could set the tone for a turnaround in fortunes.
