As confirmed by Granada’s official Twitter account, Chelsea winger Kenedy has joined them on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old joined the Blues from Brazilian side Fluminense in 2015. He made 20 appearances as a relative unknown during his first season at the Bridge.
Unfortunately, he has since made just seven more and has gone out on loan to three different clubs.
Capable of playing in a variety of roles, the 24-year-old is a versatile customer.
Playing in Spain will not be a new experience for the Brazilian. In fact, he spent last season on loan at Getafe. He made a total of 25 appearances while scoring three goals and assisting five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Kenedy also gained European experience as he featured in eight Europa League games for Getafe. Granada finished seventh last season, meaning the winger could once again participate in the competition next season.
The Brazilian’s contract at Chelsea runs until 2022. It is unlikely that he has a long-term future at the club. (h/t Mirror)
His latest loan spell in Spain could serve as an audition for prospective buyers next summer.
Chelsea have undergone a busy summer that has seen them bring in five first-team stars so far. This includes the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz in the attack.
With a number of attackers already at the club, the chances of Kenedy making it at Chelsea seem remote at best.
Interestingly, Kenedy was a part of the Getafe side last season that dumped Hakim Ziyech’s Ajax Amsterdam out of Europe.
He scored in the first leg of the last 32 clash as Getafe won the game 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
