Frank Lampard retains complete faith in Mason Mount

According to Sky Sports, Frank Lampard has revealed that he has complete faith in the abilities of Chelsea youngster Mason Mount.

The 21-year-old was one of the three youngsters pulled by the manager at half-time in the FA Cup victory over Leicester City. Lampard was very unhappy with his team’s first-half performance, something he was not shy to speak out on.

The Chelsea legend will not, however, let a bad day at the office get in the way of his long-term plans for the club.

“He knows how much I trust in him and he works brilliantly every day.”

Frank Lampard has faith in Mason Mount

Lampard’s decision was for the betterment of the team and he did what was required to turn things around for the Blues. In the end, it paid off as a Ross Barkley strike earned us a spot in the semifinals.

His decision on the day will not impact Mount’s chances going ahead. Something Lampard made very clear.

“There was no problem with Mason because it was a one-off game, I had to make a decision and it doesn’t affect my thinking for West Ham or going forwards.”

Mount has made 44 appearances for the Blues this season. During this time he chipped in with 6 goals and 5 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

He has played the 90 minutes in both of our Premier League matches since the restart. Lampard believes Mount’s performances were exemplary and deserved to be crowned with an assist or a goal.

Lampard made Mount a household name while at Derby County

Mount’s abilities are clear to Lampard, who made him a household name while in charge of Derby County. The Chelsea boss has no doubt that his protege will only get better with time.

“His quality on the ball is already at a high level and it’s only going to get better.”

Mount, at a young age, has received a very valuable lesson that can help him going forward. In Lampard, he has a manager who is not only willing to make hard decisions but also places faith when required.

If he develops as expected, he will be a pleasure to watch in the coming years.
