Lampard expects Callum Hudson-Odoi to fulfil his potential at Chelsea

According to the BBC, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard expects Callum Hudson-Odoi to fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old was reportedly unhappy with what he perceived as a lack of opportunities. The frustration stems from the fact that he has played a mere 48 minutes since the restart.

However, the report quotes a source close to the player has stated that he is very happy at the club. Hudson-Odoi recently penned a five-year extension after being linked heavily with a move to Bayern Munich.

“I want to see that potential come through.”

However, it is at the Bridge that Lampard expects the youngster to attain his full potential. The Blues boss has praised the 19-year-old for his high training levels over the past few days. Lampard views it as a necessary metric for the youngster’s rise to the top.

“He needs to keep training at the highest level, which I have seen him do particularly in the last week or 10 days.”

Identifying Hudson-Odoi as a player with excellent potential, Lampard praised his impact off the bench in the last few games.

The Chelsea boss also downplayed suggestions that his young starlet was frustrated over his lack of playing time.

“No, but I’d expect my players to want to play as much as they can.”

The arrival of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner will lead to more competition in the Blues attack. According to the report, Hudson-Odoi is relishing the challenge.

One can only become the best by competing against the best. Hudson-Odoi has all the skills necessary to make it to the top. Hopefully, we will see that over the next few seasons.

The exit of Pedro and potentially Willian will also work to the youngster’s demand for more playing time.

At just 19, he has his whole career ahead of him. He just has to ensure he makes the most of the opportunities given to him. Once he does that, there will be no reason for Lampard to leave him out.
