Kai Havertz offered a five-year deal by Chelsea

According to Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian, German star Kai Havertz is happy to join Chelsea after being offered a five-year deal by the club.

He went on to add that negotiations between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen are underway. The Blues are ready to meet the €80m asking fee but only after add-ons. Talks are ongoing regarding the final fee.

The player is keen to join and has also agreed to personal terms. The contract is expected to run until June 2025.

One of the best young talents on the continent, the Blues have beaten off competition from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to get an opportunity to land the German.

If it comes to pass, he will become the third high-profile player to join Chelsea. The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of the summer transfer window that opened on Monday.

A top-four finish was secured on Sunday following the 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. A return to the Champions League will make our job of attracting the best players easier. Something that Lampard is aware of.

“There is the prestige, the top players want to play in the Champions League.”

Chelsea are closing in on Havertz

Havertz is back in training with Leverkusen as they prepare for their Europa League game against Rangers, which is set to take place next week. The 21-year-old would like the deal to be completed before that game.

Havertz has enjoyed an excellent season at Leverkusen and has scored 17 goals and 9 assists from 43 games in all competitions. He is ready for a new challenge and is keen to play in Europe’s premier competition next season. (h/t Mirror)

Bringing in Havertz will strengthen what is already a promising group of players at Chelsea. It promises to be the most exciting summer transfer window at the club in years.

The excitement hopefully translates into performances on the pitch.
