Chelsea are preparing a move for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell in the summer transfer window, according to Football.London. The 23-year-old came up through the youth ranks at Leicester before making his Premier League debut in 2016 against Everton.
He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the league’s best left-backs. Chilwell has made 22 appearances for the Foxes this season and has scored two goals and three assists. (h/t Whoscored)
Left-back is a position that the Blues need to address this summer. Marcos Alonso is out of favour and Emerson has been linked with a return to Serie A.
At just 23, Chilwell has the potential to nail down the position at Chelsea for years to come. He is also well experienced in the Premier League to come in and make an immediate impact.
He is defensively solid and does well in one vs ones. His attacking qualities have also improved, with the player able to push up the pitch and deliver crosses with increasing accuracy.
Manchester City is also interested in the player with Leicester set to demand over £80million for his services.
Interestingly Chilwell was sent off for the only time in his career so far against Chelsea. The defender has also won 11 caps for the England national team.
