Chelsea have kept their Champions League hopes alive as they beat Swansea City 0-1 at Liberty Stadium this Saturday.
The defending champions may have claimed 3 points but the game was painfully underwhelming to watch. An early goal from Cesc Fabregas placed the Blues in the driving seat and that was enough to propel them towards a victory.
While this was a good win, one cannot deny that the performance, on the whole, was incredibly lacklustre. Carlos Carvalhal’s men made some errors in the first-half but they looked a lot stronger after the break.
In fact, towards the end of the game, the Swansea attackers made quite a few attempts to equalise but Chelsea held them off.
The loss will cause a major dent in their chances of preserving their top-flight status but as far as we are concerned, this was a much-needed win.
Now, Chelsea have managed to close in on fourth-placed Tottenham, who are ahead of us by 2 points. We play third-placed Liverpool next week and the Reds are six points ahead of us right now.
To seal a berth in the elite European competition will be our greatest aim for now, along with pushing to win the FA Cup. If we manage to display good form in the games to come, it will help us when we face Manchester United in the final.
Needless to say, this win will ensure celebrations in London for a while now. Meanwhile, here’s how the fans reacted on Twitter.
