According to the recent reports from the Daily Mail, Chelsea manager – Antonio Conte – has set his sights on Burnley’s 23-year-old defender, Michael Keane.
The same source has further stated that he might cost the Blues a whopping amount of £25m. The former Manchester United defender, Keane, was a reported target for the reigning Premier League Champions Leicester City and the Foxes even tried to offer Burnley a sum of £15m in the summer, but Burnley rejected the offer.
It is fair to say that Chelsea are in crisis and they need to solve their defensive issues if they really tend to go for the honour this season. With John Terry and Kurt Zouma still recovering from their respective injuries, the manager was forced to use the duo of Gary Cahill and David Luiz, but the pair hasn’t worked strongly enough to prove their metal.
The fee is surely high, but the player is worth taking a gamble as he has been rated very high by the footballing experts. Keane started his career at Manchester United and left them last year for £2m on a three-and-a-half-year deal with Burnley.
It is understood that it will not be an easy task for Burnley to turn down a bid of £25m for Keane, who helped them get promoted to the Premier League last season.
