In a shocking revelation The Times has reported that Chelsea are interested in Christian Benteke from Liverpool.
The Belgian moved from Aston Villa to Liverpool under Brendan Rogers and failed to impress during that time and even after Jurgen Klopp joined he has seen very little game time. Now Chelsea are thinking of going after Benteke if their bid for Romelu Lukaku fails in the summer.
Antonio Conte is said to be interested in getting a player to compete with Diego Costa and will look to strengthen in the summer. The lack of European football has become a major issue in attracting talented players, but our understanding is that buying Benteke could be a big mistake. Recent Chelsea striker purchases have failed to live up to expectation except for Diego Costa and it is possible that the Blues are heading in the same direction.
