Can Chelsea Top The League In More Ways Than One?

In recent weeks, Chelsea have started to win more consistently in Jose Mourinho’s second spell as manager. Sure, some of our games haven’t been the prettiest to watch, as the 1-0 win against Stoke City in the FA Cup has proved, but we’re not far off overhauling Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and we’re still in the Champions League, which is encouraging.

As far as transfers are concerned, the sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United may have taken some of us aback, but we’re in a pretty good place to mount a challenge domestically and in Europe. The signature of Mohamed Salah and Nemanja Matic for a combined fee approaching £40m could help, but if we do manage to win the league under the guidance of The Special One, will that be enough to satisfy us?

In the mood

Coming top of the league is something many of us would prefer to European glory. Having won the Champions League and Europa League in the last couple of seasons, a little domestic silverware would be the preferred option, although we’re not too picky! However, getting one over on our rivals in the League would be best for bragging!

As well as topping the league, it might be worth showing we’re better than Arsenal, Man City et al in another way. A recent quiz entitled ‘how well do you know your team?’ asks fans of every current top flight team if they know their club as well as they think they do. Ladbrokes created the quiz to help pit fans of rival teams against each other, giving the game another dimension.

Not feeling so blue

Scoring more than, for example, Arsenal fans in the quiz will make us fans feel a little better than we do right now. It might even help to make up for the loss of Mata, even if Eden Hazard and Oscar seem to be providing all the goals and creativity we could possibly need behind the forwards. Nevertheless, it might help you realise that there’s more to the Blues than you may realise!
