Chelsea vs Blackburn Preview

Chelsea host Blackburn this afternoon in the final set of Premier League fixtures for the season, although the home side still have the small matter of the Champions League final to worry about next Saturday.

The visitors have already been relegated after they were beaten by fellow strugglers Wigan last week, whilst Chelseas hopes of qualifying for next years Champions League via league position were dashed, as Liverpool took revenge and beat them 4-1 in midweek.

Chelsea will look to sign off the season in style, and possibly a farewell to interim boss Roberto Di Matteo, although a win next week in Germany would surely put him on pole to take over full-time.

Defensive duo Cahill and Luiz are ruled out, and are also doubts for the Champions League final, which would be terrible news for the Blues, who have Ivanovic and Terry out through suspension as well, whilst John Obi Mikel could play after recovering from a knee injury, although he may not be risked ahead of the Bayern clash.

Blackburn have allsorts of off-field problems, Steve Kean could well take charge of his last game, and nobody knows whether the Venkys will still be in control of the club next season.

Bradley Orr is facing surgery, while Robinson and Dunn are doubtful, although Gael Givet should return after coming off earlier in the defeat to Wigan.

This hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Blackburn over previous seasons, having only scored twice here in their last 11 games, collecting just two draws as well.

Im backing Chelsea to sign off in style this weekend, and I fancy them to score a few goals too. Here are my bets for the weekend, all on Bet365:

Chelsea (-2) @ 13/10 – 5 points
Chelsea to win to nil @ 5/4 – 8 points
Ramires FGS @ 15/2 – 2 points

Prediction: Chelsea 3 Blackburn 0 (15/2)
