Stoke made a move to sign Chelsea’s teenage star striker Romelu Lukaku on loan, but it is not possible due to Premier League rules.
The loan move was not possible because of Premier League rule M 7.1, which states:
“A temporary transfer to a club may not take place in the transfer window in which the transferor club acquired the player’s registration.”
The Blues only signed Lukaku in August from Anderlecht a the huge fee in and around £18 million, giant centre forward made his debut against Norwich on Saturday and looked a real talent.
With Andres Villas-Boas having numerous strikers on the books, it was thought that he would let the young Belgian go on loan so that he would get regular first-team experience.
