Chelsea receive an update on Bundesliga giants’ interest in 20-year-old star

Transfer News: Chelsea given fresh update regarding Bayern Munich’s interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to German transfer expert, Constantin Eckner (h/t football.london), Bayern Munich are no longer interested in signing Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi.

This news comes after rumours of the Bavarian side reigniting their interest in the 20-year-old. Bayern have made several offers for the Englishman over the past few years, but have failed to sign him. (h/t football.london)

They have even had a £35m bid for him rejected some two years back. And with talks of Kingsley Coman being linked in a move away from the Allianz Arena, it was felt that Bayern could be interested in Hudson-Odoi.

But those rumours are batted away by Eckner on Twitter, who states that Bayern’s interest in the youngster has ‘vanished’ and the German champions can anyway not afford to match his Chelsea wages in Munich.

Hands off Callum!

“By the way, Bayern Munich’s interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi has, somewhat unsurprisingly, vanished; as they couldn’t offer him the salary he currently earns at Chelsea anyway.”

This would come as welcome news for Chelsea fans who know Hudson-Odoi’s ceiling. The youngster did not feature regularly under Thomas Tuchel in the season gone by but would hope to get more starts this time around.

That could be difficult to come right now considering the plethora of options Thomas Tuchel has at his disposal in attack, but the club would still have enough opportunities to rotate their squad and give the English winger his fair share of opportunities to impress.

Hudson-Odoi can also have some difficulties that arise from Thomas Tuchel’s formation. The 3-4-2-1 that he plays utilizes full-backs such as Ben Chilwell and Reece James, with wingers rarely required – at least on paper.

This potentially new role was on display this season itself when Hudson-Odoi started as a wide midfielder in the aforementioned set-up multiple times. It would be interesting to see if that trend continues this season as well.
