With two of their strikers most likely departing Stamford Bridge in January, Chelsea were looking at various strikers to replenish their shrinking strike-force. One of them has been Saido Berahino. The West Brom player has been consistent in past few years and with age on his side, is a decent acquisition for any English team.
However, it was reported earlier that several clubs including the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool were interested in the striker. Now, The Express has reported that Tottenham has cooled their interest in Berahino. This leaves Chelsea as the front-runner for the player’s signature. The reason cited by the English newspaper is that Tottenham are worried that Berahino’s arrival may destabilize the current team. Pochettino, having built a nice system in White Hart Lane, would not want that to happen.
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink on the other hand, does not think the same for his club and added his name to a short list of targeted players. Destabilizing the team? I don’t think Chelsea needs to be worried much after what they have gone through in the first half of the season.
