“It lifts the whole team”- Chelsea teammate likes Axel Disasi ‘celebrating every tackle’ on the pitch

Levi Colwill is glad to share the stage at Chelsea with Axel Disasi

Chelsea star Levi Colwill has been one of our success stories this season alongside summer signing Axel Disasi who continues to make an impact at the heart of the Blues defence.

Despite spending a bucketload to bring in new players and Cole Palmer’s heroics, Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea are enjoying an underwhelming campaign. To claim that the squad at the Argentine’s disposal is underperforming would be an understatement.

However, it is not all doom and gloom as even during adversity, there are sprinkles of hope. One such instance is the signing of Disasi from AS Monaco. The Frenchman has quickly developed into a fan favourite and gets what it wears to don the Blue jersey.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Colwill has opened up on the impact Disasi has had on the squad and the club as a whole. The Englishman has an excellent opinion of the 26-year-old and appears to have complete faith in his centre-back partner’s defensive acumen.

But it is not just the Frenchman’s defensive prowess that has impressed Colwill. He is also sold on Disasi’s ability to rally the troops through his actions on the field. An expressive player, the 26-year-old does not shy away from showing his emotions on the field.

“Especially with him celebrating every tackle, it kind of lifts the whole team, lifts me and he has got me doing it a few times too! I do really enjoy playing next to him.”

The top sides in the Premier League, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City all have reliable centre-back partnerships that form the crux of their first XI. Chelsea have leaked goals this season but are showing signs of improvement and could come good in the long run.

As things stand, both Colwill and Disasi are young enough to form our centre-back pairing for the immediate years. As long as the duo retain faith in each others’ abilities and are willing to cover each other’s mistakes, Chelsea fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Disasi, for his part has reciprocated Colwill’s comments and appears to hold his Blues teammate in high regard. We are still some way off challenging for the top but the gears appear to be falling into place-slowly yet surely.
