Enzo Fernandez looks back at tough time at Chelsea and recalls he found it difficult to adapt

Enzo Fernandez opens up about his so-far time in the Premier League and says he struggled to adapt at Chelsea during their difficult season last term. The Argentine midfielder was signed with much hype after his incredible performance in the 2022 World Cup.

Chelsea went to extreme lengths to sign the midfielder that saw them break the British transfer record. Since joining the Blues, the former Benfica midfielder has been a regular starter and this campaign he has contributed three goals and two assists in 27 matches.

However, Chelsea continue to underperform and are currently ninth in the table. The club board hopes that the club will be able to achieve a European spot by the end of the campaign.

And Fernandez will certainly play a key role in inspiring the club to a better place in the league than last season, but his recent remarks during his time at Chelsea indicate he has found it difficult to adapt like other players. Speaking to the Chelsea website, he further said:

‘’Now that I’m actually experiencing it, it’s incredible. The first six months were difficult for me. I found it hard to adapt, but now I feel so much more prepared than at the start. But I’m enjoying it so much.’’

Despite being signed during the winter transfer window when the team was in disarray and it was clear Fernandez wouldn’t be able to make the team competitive on his own, he didn’t take long to adjust to life in the league. He has made substantial strides this season, and since Mauricio Pochettino has utilized him more extensively, he has thrived in that capacity, tallying assists and scoring goals.
