£145m Chelsea duo in danger of suspension vs Everton as Blues prepare for final stretch of PL season

Chelsea stars Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson are one yellow card away from picking two-match ban

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino would be sweating right now on Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson’s collection of yellow cards, As per Express, both Chelsea players are one yellow card away from serving a two-match ban. The two players’ combined signing fees to the Blues in the summer window reached around £145 million.

Jackson has already served match bans after exceeding his yellow card limit, while Caicedo could pick up his first ban if he receives a yellow card against Everton. Jackson, who has been satisfactory since joining the club, has produced nine Premier League goals, while Caicedo has suffered from inconsistent performances.

Meanwhile, the Blues are ninth in the Premier League, but had they won against Sheffield United, the story would have been different, as they suffered a frustrating 2-2 draw.

Pochettino continues to feel growing pressure to turn the tide around, but the team’s performance hasn’t done anything to ease the strain. With the club heading into a crucial period of the season, Pochettino will hope he has a fully functional squad and his players keep their emotions under control and avoid picking unnecessary yellow cards.

Jackson and Caicedo will have to do everything to ensure they don’t pick a yellow card, as after the Toffees game, the Blues are set to have games against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, then against Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Since we already lack an assortment of players due to injuries, perhaps Caicedo and Jackson will be cautious in their performance against Everton. Both a striker and a defensive midfielder will be out of the lineup for the other two games if Caicedo and Jackson are given yellow cards.

It will compel the Argentine manager to modify his approach. With the others out with injuries, Carey Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei are the other alternatives in midfield. Since Jackson is the sole player in the No. 9 spot, it would be extremely prudent for them to avoid getting into any problems or receiving any yellow cards as we would pay a heavy price in the following games.
