Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea signing Bernardo Cueva is imminent

The imminent acquisition of Bernardo Cueva as new Chelsea set-pieces coach marks a significant development for the club. With his expertise and track record at Brentford, where he has played a crucial role in improving dead-ball scenarios, Cueva’s arrival is expected to bolster Chelsea’s performance in this aspect of the game.

Having worked wonders with Brentford, who have been among the most prolific teams from set-pieces in the Premier League, Cueva brings valuable insights and strategies to Stamford Bridge. His ability to refine set-piece routines could provide Chelsea with an added dimension in attack and defense.

With the departure of Anthony Barry, Chelsea had been lacking a specialized set-pieces coach, but Cueva’s imminent arrival fills that void. While he will continue his duties at Brentford until the end of the summer, Chelsea fans can anticipate his impact once he joins the club ahead of the new season.

And now they have been provided further positive news by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The journalist updating his YouTube channel said:

‘’Chelsea are now getting one of the best coaches in set-piece positions, and now what I have been told is that Chelsea will pay a compensation fee to Brentford of £750k. The deal is done, and the official announcement is expected soon.‘’

Chelsea’s decision to secure Cueva’s services underscores their commitment to enhancing all aspects of their gameplay. With Cueva’s track record and experience, the Blues can expect to benefit from his innovative strategies and meticulous approach to set-piece training. Only Liverpool (17) have netted more goals than the Bees (16) from dead ball situations this season.

Mauricio Pochettino set to work with set-pieces expert Bernardo Cueva.

During his tenure at Brentford, the team has consistently capitalized on set-piece scenarios, particularly free kicks, to secure goals. In the Premier League, where competition is fiercer, Cueva’s expertise has been instrumental in maintaining and even improving the team’s dead-ball performance.

In the 2021/22 season, under the management of Thomas Frank and with Cueva’s coaching, Brentford notched an impressive tally of 15 goals from set pieces. This demonstrates the effectiveness of Cueva’s strategies and the players’ execution on the field.

For Chelsea, having a coach dedicated to improving set pieces is crucial for maximizing scoring opportunities and gaining an edge in tight matches. With Cueva on board, the Blues can expect to see improvements in their set-piece execution, which could prove decisive in key moments throughout the season.

Overall, Chelsea’s decision to secure the services of Cueva demonstrates their commitment to addressing strategic areas of improvement within the team. As one of the best set-piece coaches in the business, Cueva’s arrival is sure to have a positive impact on the London sides performance on the field.
